Multiplayer launches with the full game on October 23, 2026. Activision's official editions page states the game “launches worldwide on October 23, 2026”. Multiplayer is part of the full game and was never part of early access.

Non. Activision has not published a per-region unlock schedule, and it has never used the phrase “midnight local time” in official material. Its PC guide carries only a footnote: “Actual Play Time Subject to Possible Outages and Applicable Time Zone Differences. Actual platform availability and start date subject to change.”

Steam's listing shows “Oct 22, 2026”, which resolves to 22:00 PDT on October 22 — the same instant as October 23 for most of the world. It is a store metadata convention, not an earlier launch.

Only Campaign and DMZ have early access windows, and only for eligible digital preorders. Campaign opens Friday, October 16 (PT) and DMZ opens Tuesday, October 20 (PT). Multiplayer is not in early access.

Non. Multiplayer is available from launch with the full game. What the campaign does unlock is Opérateurs: nine Opérateurs can be earned through campaign missions and are usable in both Multiplayer and DMZ.

Likely. Activision notes that “Additional storage space may be required for mandatory game updates”, so reserve room beyond the launch build rather than planning to the exact byte.

Activision's editions page lists Digital Standard, Physical Standard and a digital-only Vault Edition, plus a $30 in-game upgrade path from a digital Standard copy to Vault. There is no “Pro” edition on the official page.

Non. Modern Warfare 4 is a paid game and multiplayer is part of it. Console players additionally need an online subscription; PC players do not.

Digital preorders include Campaign Early Access from October 16, DMZ Early Access from October 20, the Hunter Killer Operator Skin and the Gilded Pearl Camo Pack. Digital preorders also include the Inner Circuit M4 Blueprint — physical copies do not get that blueprint.

The Vault Edition adds the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, the Special Forces Operator Pack, the Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell and a DMZ Deployment Bonus, on top of everything in Standard.

Oui, but only digitally. A digital Standard copy can be upgraded to Vault for $30 suggested retail price. Physical editions cannot be upgraded.

Not necessarily on day one. Activision states BlackCell, Battle Pass, Call of Duty Points and Tier Skips “will be accessible in Modern Warfare 4 upon availability of the Season 1 Battle Pass in-game”. It is tied to the Season 1 Battle Pass going live, not to launch day.

It is two things rather than one: Moonlit Pearl, a universal camo, and Gilded Ruin, unlocked through a 5,000 Skulls challenge. Both become available in Modern Warfare 4 at launch.

Oui, for preorders. Activision offers a 10% Vault loyalty discount during the preorder window to qualifying players who own and have played a Call of Duty title from 2019 onward on the same platform account.

A separate one. Digital preorders earn the Shattered Relay Weapon Blueprint for the ICR-1 Assault Rifle in Call of Duty Mobile. That is a different reward from the Inner Circuit M4 Blueprint in Modern Warfare 4 — do not confuse the two.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC it is sold on Battle.net, Steam and the Xbox app. There are no PS4 or Xbox One versions.

Non. Neither last-gen console appears in any official platform list. If you only own a last-gen console you will need a current-gen console or a PC.

On console, yes. Activision's editions page states that “A PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Essential, or a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to access social features and online modes” on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.

Non. Activision does not list a subscription requirement for PC on any platform. The requirements it does call out for PC are TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot.

Not at launch. Activision announced it as a standalone release and states it “will not be included with Game Pass until Holiday 2027”. An active Game Pass subscription is still required for Xbox online multiplayer even though the game itself must be bought.

Oui. The PC store listing carries an official “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” tag, and Activision describes crossplay-enabled squads. Whether crossplay can be disabled was not published, so check the in-game settings after launch.

Oui, but only on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Activision does not list split-screen for PC or Nintendo Switch 2.

Oui. The Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC versions are Xbox Play Anywhere, so a single purchase covers both the console and Windows.

Activision lists 115 GB on an SSD for both minimum and recommended PC specifications, and an SSD is required. It also warns that additional space may be needed for mandatory updates.

Activision has not published a per-platform or per-component breakdown. Per-console and per-pack size figures circulating in media were not confirmed by Activision during this review, so treat them as reported rather than official.

More than 115 GB if you can. The official 115 GB figure is the launch build, and Activision explicitly notes mandatory updates will require additional space. A 130–180 GB free target on PC is a practical buffer rather than an official number.

An SSD. Activision lists “SSD with 115 GB available space at launch” in the Configuration PC, for both minimum and recommended.

Oui. Activision states that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required on PC. If your system reports either as unavailable, follow Activision's TPM support guidance before launch.

Activision lists 12 new Core 6v6 maps for launch. Gunfight and Ground War spaces sit outside that count, and Kill Block adds modular layouts on top of the standard maps.

33 — 24 primary weapons, eight secondary weapons and one melee weapon. Activision also lists 28 Apex Attachments and more than 500 standard attachments.

17 at launch, spread across kill thresholds of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Each also has its own player-level unlock, so the streak you want may be locked even once you can afford its kill streak.

A modular battleground whose layout reconfigures between matches. Activision says its three Slabs can produce more than 500 configurations at launch, so a route that worked last match may not exist this one.

A large-scale mode built around establishing Outposts to earn resources, then spending those resources to advance further objectives. Vehicle support and rotation timing matter as much as eliminations.

A mode where eliminations grow your fortune and make you a higher-value target. The core decision is when to keep pushing and when to protect a lead.

Oui — BlackCell. The Vault Edition includes one season, and it becomes claimable when the Season 1 Battle Pass goes live in-game rather than necessarily on launch day.

Warzone content is being integrated into the first season rather than living as a separate launch experience.

At Player Level 4. Below that you use preset Default Classes, which is why the earliest levels offer so little freedom.

The published unlock tables run to player level 55, and that is where the last weapons, equipment and Killstreaks sit.

Non. Each attachment unlocks once and applies across every weapon that can take it, so a single unlock is never wasted.

The final reward for maxing a weapon out. They are earned at max level for that weapon and do not occupy a standard attachment slot.

Oui. Activision describes two Prestige paths: Classic resets progression for a rebuild, Regular restarts progression while keeping unlocked content. Check the live menu for the exact reset summary.

Oui. Activision has described a Firing Range and a Gunny attachment optimizer, so you can test recoil and handling without queuing into a match.

Multiplayer and DMZ stream textures and need a persistent connection. A brief drop degrades the experience rather than fully stopping it, but a disconnected player cannot stay in a match.

Non. Multiplayer is online-only by definition, and because of texture streaming it needs a live connection even in Private Matches.

Check the official Activision service status and your platform network status first, since these are usually regional. If services are healthy, restart the game and platform client, apply pending updates, and test a wired connection before reinstalling anything.

The error code, the time, the platform and whether the problem affects sign-in, matchmaking or a single playlist. That is what makes a support ticket actionable.
